Managing the budget better is our only way!

Torbay is on track for £45m of cuts. Expertise in money management is essential. I find examples of savings with no strategy to increase income. I can offer ‘Fundamental Savings Strategy’, ‘Pro-Business Plan’, & importantly ‘Referendum Choice to Residents’.

What is called Torbay’s Medium Term Resource Plan makes for bleak reading, with council following a strong wind towards cuts of £13m, £13.4m, £10m and £9.3m over the next Mayoralty!

If a new strategy is not put in place what other services will be cut which are so valuable to so many people in the bay?

The Government has radically changed how local finance is made for Councils. However there are potential strategies which if we had been led to follow over the last 4 years we would not be in such a dire situation now. If followed now at least we do not have to be in the future.

There are solutions that can turn the direction of this ship so we don’t hit the centre of the storm.

With a three pronged attack of ‘waste management’, what is call ‘pro business strategy’ and a government introduced ‘referendum choice for residents’ we can steer us away from the centre of the storm and move to the edges or even clear.

Just as an example the referendum choice could safeguard 60% of cuts from year 2 onwards. Here Residents would have real say in the budget and what matters to them. Do you want that?

Managing and limiting impact of budget cuts makes for a BETTER TORBAY.
